OPERATION CALVADOS Documentary
Operation Calvados: The Documentary highlights a remarkable community initiative to honour the Royal Regina Rifles on the 80th Anniversary of D-Day.
Eighty years ago, on 6 June 1944, the Regina Rifles landed on the beaches of Normandy as part of the largest amphibious invasion in military history. To commemorate the sacrifices of these citizen-soldiers from Saskatchewan, the Royal Regina Rifles Trust raised funds to place a statue in Normandy on 5 June 2024 and bring 15 current-serving members of the regiment overseas to participate in a Tour of Honour.
Through interviews, archival footage, and photography, this documentary sheds light on the historical and emotional significance of the Regina Rifles’ contributions during D-Day and the pivotal role they played in the victory that ended the Second World War.
Operation Calvados is not just a tribute; it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of community, sacrifice, and remembrance in Saskatchewan.
